Beautiful toys with a cause

Do you remember your favorite toy? I was lucky to have two elderly ladies who doted on me with handmade dolls and puppets. I was looking for similar toys for my son and found them at work:train Papaya shop and the Werkstück shop. Both employ jobless or disabled people and most of the toys are also made by people with disabilities. Papaya shop also has wellknown toy brands like Ugly Dolls, Sterntaler etc.

You can find both stores around Tellplatz.

To the movies!

If you don't mind having a dozen wailing babies around you the monthly Nuggi-Event of Pathé Cinema might be something for you. On every first Sunday of the month Pathé presents a movie matinée which can be attended with baby in tow.

The best virgin cocktail in town!

Breastfeeding but longing for a cocktail with friends? EoIpso has the best virgin cocktails in town and is easily accessible with prams. Opposite EoIpso is the FAZ (Family Centre) where you have changing rooms for babies.

I highly recommend the fruit cocktails which come in "Exotic" or "Season" varieties and are garnished with half a fruit salad.

Brunch in the park or on the farm

You want to meet with friends, but your house is a mess, your kids are driving you nuts and you and your husband are totally overworked... let others do the work for you. There are several great places in and around Basel where you can go for a brunch on Saturdays or Sundays with your family and take your friends along. Find below some of my favourite choices.

Parkpavillion

My most convenient choice in Basel is the Pavillion at Schützenmattpark. It is situated in midst of various playgrounds in the center of Schützenmattpark where toddlers can roam around. The brunch buffet is well stocked, the prices are ok too.
